ICC

The construction is definitely getting better; I mean I used to have to stop every meter or so no now!  I can definitely tell that the construction workers are almost done.  Except, why don’t they just redo the whole road instead of patching them up?  In Pekin they patched the road up, but then a few weeks later they tore, basically, the whole road up, and it was rough grooved for a while.  Then they just did the whole road over, now it is so nice.  Except for when you get past the new road!!!!!!!  So now what are the construction workers doing near Peoria?  They are just patching the road up!  Just tear the whole thing up and get it over with!
Anyway, let’s talk about how my Math class is going, any changes?  To be frank, I am still really, amazingly bored in Math.  I still almost fall asleep, though I really do try not to.  Also, the homework is not hard at all, I just have to get through this class and move on to a more challenging Math class; and that is that!
In English I am still having an awesome time.  I mean the teacher really could not get any better.  She explains everything so you are not confused, plus she is quite laid back, which makes the class a plethora amount more enjoyable!  Right now we are writing narratives, and well when I first learned that we were doing a narrative I was, to tell you the truth, kind of scared.  I am not that great at writing.  Then she said that it did not have to be true, that is when I felt so much relief!  I love to write stories!
In Reading class, I have the same teacher as I do for English, which makes it so much easier to get along.  I cannot say, “I love reading!” enough, because I truly do not know what I would do if there were no books!  We are still reading Thirteen Reasons Why, and, I think I might’ve said this already, at first I didn’t know whether or not I would like this book, but I really do; I mean I really do!
I like being in most of my classes because they aren’t boring!

Getting To ICC: Is It All Worth It?

Ok, so how many of you are totally getting tired of all the construction going on by East Peoria.  Come on, why can’t they just leave it alone and let it be.  In my dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hate construction period.  There is construction going on in Pekin, Havana, Easton, and, wait for it……Peoria!!!!!!!!!!!  I have to drive through construction everyday just to get to ICC, it sucks!!!!  They should have a detour to get to ICC without all the construction sites.  Oh, wouldn’t that be the day!
Something quite unexpected happened last week, when I pulled into Parking Lot A, I got a huge shock…..there were no parking spots where I usually park at.  I was totally dumbfounded!  I got there at twenty ‘til seven, how does that work!?!?  So what did I do?  I parked on the opposite side where nobody had parked.  I got to park right next to a staff’s space, only across from where I usually park.  The same thing just happened again today!!!!!!
When I got into my first class room my teacher, yet again, was not there.  I always have to wait for my Math teacher to get there.  I guess I get to ICC to early, but if I do not get to ICC early enough I would have to park quite a bit farther than I usually do! Math class is always boring, so enough about it.  Anyway, my English and Reading classes have been quite interesting!  What is weird is I actually cannot wait to get to English now.  I never did that in high school!  I have always liked reading, but I have never actually had a regular Reading class before, it’s exciting!  So as for my question, is it all worth it?  Well...yes it is definitely worth it because you learn something new every day!  ICC is a great college to go to!

College Life

I have been in college for four weeks now, but I have learned a lot in those three days a week. Like I said in my first blog, getting to ICC early is the key to a good parking spot; I think I will be sticking with that for a while! Math has gotten a little more interesting, yet I still want to fall asleep. I think that pretty much speaks for itself, no?
Why is it that people always pass you or almost run right into you? Do they just want to show off? What is there problem? I know, I know…..slower traffic is supposed to stay to the right, right? I happen to not be in such a hurry, so if you want to go around me and walk faster, you are more than welcome to, but you do not have to run over me and let out a huge over exaggerated sigh! Seriously! Just say “excuse me,” is that so hard to say?
In my English and Reading are always fun. I have Stephanie Guedet Scott for both classes, and I am so pleased with that! She is so awesome! I have never met a teacher like her. Well…in English I did a heart map, like a cluster map only in the shape of a heart, and I really enjoyed working on it. I think that I may have even learned a little bit about myself in the process. I thought the exercise that we did in Reading was pretty cool. I like how the people with different learning abilities were able to really connect to what we were doing! I loved the tie-dyed yarn! I love color, everybody does!

My First Two Weeks of College

As I pulled up to get a parking space at ICC, I came to a conclusion of, the earlier you get there the better your chances are to get a good parking spot. So when I walked in I noticed that there was hardly anybody in the hallways, which would have been a disaster if I did not know where my classes were. Thankfully I did know where all my classes were, because I found them after I had gotten my books. The next thing I did was go to my first class, nobody there. So I just wait out in the hall at a desk, for the teacher to get there. My next conclusion was that my math class was super easy! Math class was so easy that I was bored to death, and almost fell asleep half the time.
Then I have to recall where my next class is, and low and behold I forgot. So I kind of panic and went to the computers in the café and found out. Turns out I was directly above the class I am supposed to go to next, English. That is where I met Stephanie Guedet Scott. She is the first English teacher that is like laid back, but yet she still teaches at the same time. That is a very rare combination! When I first hear about what we are going to be doing I am thrilled because I do like writing. How well I write a paper definitely depends on the topic of the paper. I loved writing all the papers that Stephanie had assigned us. They were fun to do!
The next class I have is right across from my English class, plus I have the same teacher again! At the very start I knew I was going to like my Reading class, because I happen to love to read. Then when Stephanie yet again told me about what we were going to do in Reading class I totally got chills! That is unusual for me! I do not know if I could ever get used to talking to the class about my favorite book or not, but I definitely don’t mind reading an extra book or two on the side of reading what we actually are supposed to do for homework. So far I am pretty sure I am going to have fun this year in college!
